La Pavoni Cafe Commercial Espresso Machine

La Pavoni Cafe Commercial Espresso Machine

As you can read in our article on La Pavoni, La Pavoni started the commercial espresso machine industry in 1905. Since then, La Pavoni has been providing high quality commercial espresso machines to the European market. Now you can get the same Italian commercial espresso machines in the U.S. from TheCoffeeBrewers. The "La Pavoni Cafe" medium sized commercial espresso machine features a small footprint for a 2-group machine, but offers a full-sized boiler, which will allow you to froth continuously. These commercial espresso machines come only in a 2 group configuration.

General Information and Features

La Pavoni offers the "Cafe" commercial espresso machine, which is made for high-capacity restaurant use. The La Pavoni Cafe line of commercial espresso machine is for full sized restaurants, espresso bars, and coffee houses in which there are pronolged "rushes" for espresso drinks. The La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machine offers full sized performance with a compact footprint in case counter space is a premium.

All La Pavoni commercial espresso machines take 50/60 Hertz electrical power. The La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machines have the larger boilers than the La Pavoni Pub commercial espresso machines, and therefore, require 220 Volt operation.

The La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machines come only in a 2-group configuration in a glossy black finish. The La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machine features TWO steam wands, so that two people can be frothing milk simultaneously. The La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machines are fully automatic espresso machines, on which your shots can be preprogrammed.

In American coffee shops, there is more of a demand for cappuccino and latte than for plain espresso. What will tend to limit the rate at which your staff can make drinks is not (primarily) the number of group heads on your commercial espresso machine. The limit will more likely be the rate at which your staff can froth and steam milk for cappuccino and latte.

When there is a prolonged rush in your coffee shop, you will need to be frothing milk nearly continunously throughout the rush. What enables you to do this is a large boiler. In commercial espresso machines having smaller boilers, you will need to let the espresso machine "recover" for a few minutes (say, 3-5 minutes) after steaming for a long stretch (say, 10-15 minutes). If you will need to be steaming continuously for longer than this, you should look at the La Pavoni Cafe and La Pavoni Bar Star commercial espresso machines.

In addition to having the larger boilers than the La Pavoni Pub line, the La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machines features TWO steam wands; one on each end of the espresso machine. With a La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machine, you can have two staff members frothing milk continuously during a prolonged rush. The extra large boilers were built specifically for this reason.

If you do not anticipate prolonged "rushes" in your coffee shop or restaraunt, then the La Pavoni Pub commercial espresso machines may meet your needs quite adequately.

Commercial espresso machines having large boilers (like the La Pavoni cafe commercial espresso machines) are built to run at 220 Volts. This is because the larger boiler requires the higher voltage to heat it quickly enough to get your coffee shop up and running in the morning. This means that if you do not already have a 220 Volt outlet where you are going to put your commercial espresso machine, you will need to have your electrician put one in for you. Note that most zoning departments will require that the outlet be within 3 feet of the commercial espresso machine. You should check with your local zoning board.

The standard features of the La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machine are:

  • Machine comes with two steam wands;
  • Runs at 220-240 Volts (at 50 or 60 Hertz) and 3000 Watts;
  • Glossy black finish;
  • Dimensions are 22"W X 22"D X 21"H.

What's Included in the Price?

The price includes the commercial espresso machine itself, a 12 liter water softening unit, and a 1-year limited warrany. The price does not include freight. Contact us for a quote.

Specifically, price above includes:

  • Your La Pavoni Cafe commercial espresso machine;
  • A 12-liter water softening unit;
  • One single-serving group handle (independent of the # of groups);
  • A double-serving group handle for each group;
  • A 1-year parts warranty.

The 1-year parts warranty (which comes with the commercial espresso machine) provides replacement of any defective parts - deemed defective through no fault of the user - for the first year. This does not include labor. This kind of warranty is fairly standard throughout the commercial espresso machine industry. We offer an additional warranty that covers labor for the first year, parts for two more years, and two scheduled "preventative maintenance" service visits.

We can arrange the installation for you, or you can do it yourself.

What Will You Need to Do Before Your Commercial Espresso Machine is Operational?

When your La Pavoni commercial espresso machine arrives, it needs to be installed, and if you aren't sure how to use a commercial espresso machine, you need to be shown. (You will be able to figure it out yourself by reading some of the articles about commercial espresso machines on our site. Being shown is merely quicker. We recommend that you read these articles on commercial espresso machines and the articles on running a coffee shop too.) We will arrange for the installation of your commercial espresso machine, or you can have it done yourself. Our installers will provide about an hour of training as part of the installation of your commercial espresso machine.

For us to provide installation, your site must be installation-ready for a commercial espresso machine. This means that there has to be a high-voltage (220 Volt - 240 Volt) outlet, a water outlet, and a floor drain (as per your local health code) near your commercial espresso machine. Specifically:

  • A 220-240 Volt outlet within 3 feet of the commercial espresso machine;
  • A water supply line having a 3/8 inch diameter and a shut-off valve, also within 3 feet of the commercial espresso machine;
  • Your local board of health will specify the requirements for a floor drain. Usually, they will want a floor drain within 3 feet of your commercial espresso machine, but sometimes, zoning boards will allow for other creative solutions. You will have to find out what it required by them, and make sure that your drain solution complies.

You will have to have these things in place before our people come to install your commercial espresso machine. The person doing the installation of your commercial espresso machine will probably not be a licensed electrician and/or a licensed plumber, although they might be.

Generally speaking, putting in an electricity, water, and a drain are not included as part of the installation. For installation of our La Pavoni Pub and La Pavoni Bar series of our commercial espresso machines, we work with a national network of installers and service providers. These are independent businesses. When you buy a La Pavoni commercial espresso machine from us, we will contact your local installer for you, and arrange for them to contact you to set up an installation date.

As we've said, the installers are independent businesses near you. They will bill you separately and independently for installation. Our role is to put you in contact. All of them are authorized and trained to install and repair La Pavoni commercial espresso machines. If you like the service that they give you, you can use them for service and maintenance. If not, we will work to find you someone else near your location.

You must arrange for electricity and water with your own electrician and/or plumber ahead of installation of your commercial espresso machine. We will be happy to discuss what's required with them if you aren't sure. If these things have not been done by the time that your installer arrives, they will not be able to do the installation, and they will have to make a second trip. Depending on the installer, you might be billed a "nuissance fee" for this.

Note that all 220 Volt commercial espresso machines will come without a plug at the end of the power cord. This is because there are different outlet conventions for high-voltage circuits, so there is no "standard plug" for 220-240 Volts. Part of the installation procedure for your commercial espresso machine is to put a plug on the power cord that matches your outlet. If you will be doing the installation of your commercial espresso machine yourself, you will have to provide this plug.

Expenses You Will Incur getting Your Commercial Espresso Machine Operational

Here are the additional expenses that you will incur in getting your commercial espresso machine operational.

  • Providing electrical, water supply, and a drain (see section above). If this work needs to be done, you will need to contact your electrician and/or plumber for a price.
  • Installation & Training: This will be done by your local installer, or you can do it yourself. If you use your local installer, they will bill you separately. In general, installation will probably cost about $300, but could possibly be as high as $500, depending on the difficulty. Installation will include training. As we've said, the installers are independent businesses. The dollar figures mentioned are not price quotes. They are just meant to give you a rough idea, so that you will know your total costs up front.
  • You may or may not wish to purchase a service contract from your local installer.

Other Equipment that You Might Want

Most all coffee shops grind their coffee fresh. We have two models of La Pavoni commerial coffee grinders that were made to match the La Pavoni commercial espresso machines. They come in Red or Black. Check out the " Commercial Coffee Grinders" section inside our "Commercial Machines" section for details and prices.

To provide full service of cappuccino and latte in addition to plain espresso, you will need some standard barista supplies: frothing pitchers, frothing thermometers, coffee tampers, etc. You may also want some standard tools and cleaning supplies that are used in the daily maintenance of your commercial espresso machine. See our "Barista Supplies and Maintenance" section inside our "Commercial Machines" section. Depending on your store, you might want real cups, saucers, and spoons. Check out our "Cups, Saucers & Spoons" section.

If you have any questions, or want recommendations or suggestions based on your particular situation, don't hesitate to drop us a note, or give us a call.
