Rancilio MD 50 ST (Semiautomatic) and MD 50 AT (Fully Automatic) Coffee Grinders

The MD-series dosing coffee grinders are specifically designed to obtain optimal results using various coffee blends and roasts. As any barista knows, the coffee grinder is perhaps the most important piece of equipment used in preparing a superior quality espresso.

MD dosing coffee grinders are equipped with powerful electric motors. These coffee grinders are designed to operate at low speed in order to avoid an excessive heating of the coffee. This allows the coffee to fully retain its taste and flavor when it is ground.

The Rancilio MD 50 coffee grinder has 2.5" diameter grinding burrs, and will grind up to 20 pounds of coffee per hour. The dose size can be adjusted within the range of 3 to 9 grams (0.1 to 0.3 ounces). The hopper holds just over two pounds of coffee beans.

The MD 50 coffee grinder comes as either a semiautomatic (ST) or fully automatic (AT) coffee grinder. In the semiautomatic coffee grinder, the operator chooses when to turn the coffee grinder on and off to fill the dosing chamber. The fully automatic coffee grinder has a sensor in the dosing chamber, and automatically turns the coffee grinder on and off as appropriate to maintain a useable amount of ground coffee in the dosing chamber.
