So that your espresso machine will last, TheCoffeeBrewers recommends that you use distilled water, and not tap water in your espresso machine.
Fully Automatic Espresso Machines are pump-driven espresso machines with (usually) a microprocessor that controls the pump. Various espresso shot sizes are preprogrammed. To do your extraction, all that you have to do is to push the right button. The microprocessor will extract the correct volume in the ideal amount of time.
The fully automatic espresso machines are a step up from their semiautomatic "cousins," both in function, and in price. The advantage to a fully automatic espresso machine is that the extractions are consistent and repeatable. You will get better (and more consistent) results with a fully automatic espresso machine.
Like the semiautomatic espresso machines, the fully automatic espresso machines also have steam wands that you can use to froth or steam milk for cappuccino and latte. Many of the fully automatic espresso machines listed in here have a "cousin" listed in the "Semiautomatic Espresso Machine" section. These are the same basic machines, except without the microprocessors.
In the text following the icons below, we draw your attention to a few of the fully automatic espresso machines that have unusual features.

The Pasquini Livia 90 Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is the only espresso machine in this category that is qualified for commercial use. It is fully NSF certified, and will meet the requirements of your local board of health.
Note however that it is roughly the same size as the other espresso machines in this category, and will not handle the volumes of a busy coffee shop. Instead, it is ideal for boutiques and/or spas that might need to conform to commercial specifications, but that don't sell espresso as their primary business.
Because the Pasquini Livia 90 fully automatic espresso machine is fully ruggedized and NSF certified for commercial use, it is by far, the most expensive espresso machine in this category. There is a reason for the high price tag. This is, by far, the best espresso machine in this category.
The Pasquini Livia 90 espresso machine is also made in a semiautomatic version. (See its "cousin" in our "Semiautomatic Espresso Machines" category.) Because the base price of the Pasquini Livia 90 espresso machine is so high, the incremental price to make it fully automatic is relatively small.
Note that we offer the Pasquini Livia 90 espresso machine (in your choice of the semiautomatic or the fully automatic version) as part of a package deal, at a specially reduced price. See our "Coffee Shop Packages" for details.
The Briel Sintra Fully Automatic Espresso Machine & Drip Coffee Maker comprises a semiautomatic espresso machine, and a drip coffee maker packaged together into the same frame. Although packaged together, the two machines operate independently. This may solve a counterspace problem for you, or not.
Similarly, the Briel Multi-Pro Prestige Fully Automatic Espresso Machine & Coffee Grinder comprises a fully automatic espresso machine, and a coffee grinder packaged together into the same frame. Although packaged together, the two machines operate independently. This may solve a counterspace problem for you, or not. The coffee grinder has a loading bay that holds the portafilter handle of the espresso machine for easy loading of the coffee grounds.
