Rancilio has a very extensive range of traditional commercial espresso machines that offer many different features. From the "fully loaded" feature-rich Classe 10 models that offer the ultimate in functionality, to the very simple one-group semiautomatic Epoca pourover model (that doesn't need plumbing), there is a Rancilio commercial espresso machine ideally suited to any coffee shop.
The Rancilio line of commercial espresso machines offers many different options including compact versions of some of the machines, "Tall" versions of others (to accomodate Tall cups), and removable side flaps to optimize the use of your counterspace. We explain the main functional options in the text below the icons that take you to the various classes of Rancilio commercial espresso machines below. In describing each class, we simply refer to the option. See the text below for a detailed description of each.
Rancilio Commercial Espresso Machines
There are four classes of Rancilio commercial espresso machines: the Classe 10, the Classe 8, the Classe 6, and the Epoca. Each class subsumes a range of models, where each model offers different features. For example, the Classe 10 has the USB, the RE, and the S model; each has different features that come standard. And each model is available in different group configurations, e.g., the Classe 10 USB can be ordered as a 2-group, 3-group, or 4-group machine.
To help you to understand the different features, we outline those features here, so that we can simply reference them when describing any model.
C-Lever Feature
A new steam valve technology that is protected by a Rancilio patent, the C-Lever is a special control knob that is ergonomically designed to safely and efficiently control the steam wand. It features "Open-Stay" and "Open-Shut" functions. The valve has a short and easy travel distance, requiring a rotation of just 25 degrees to choose either function. Rotating it upwards will open the steam valve and cause it to remain open ("Open-Stay"). Rotating it downwards will open the steam valve, but the steam valve will shut when the C-Lever is released ("Open-Shut"). The new C-Lever feature makes for rapid and precise user comfort for daily tasks.
I-Steam Feature
This is a new and totally automatic steam wand that allows milk to be heated or frothed using a programmable mixture of steam and air to obtain a soft and remarkably compact cream. The innovative water system makes it the fastest and most powerful steam wand on the market. There are two program selection buttons for controlling the steam wand: "Cappuccino" heats and froths the milk, and "Latte" only heats the milk.
The smart electronic control system injects air according to the quantity of milk in the frothing pitcher, which gives quality every time. When the programmed temperature is reached, the I-Steam stops automatically. The user can set the final temperature of the drink and the quantity of air to be emulsified for both options.
4-Tea Feature
The hot water control system for tea has four different temperatures and programmable dosages. Hot and cold water are mixed electronically to obtain the right temperature for your menu, and to stop automatically when the programmed dosage has been reached. You can select: "T0" which provides 203 degree (Fahrenheit) water that is suitable for black teas; or "T1" which provides 185 degree (Fahrenheit) water that is best for Herbal and Fruit teas; or "T2" which provides 158 degree (Fahrenheit) water that is best for Chinese green teas; or "T4" which provides 140 degree (Fahrenheit) water that is best for Japanese green teas.
Load-and-Show Display Feature
The new 240 X 60 pixel display, combined with an on-board USB port makes it possible to load your own shop logos and phrases onto the display quickly and easily. With and external memory device, you can also transfer settings from one espresso machine to another to ensure uniformity of drinks across espresso machines in your shops.
Grid System Feature
To makes cleaning and maintenance easier, Rancilio has equipped all of its espresso machines with a revolutionary new work surface under each brew group. These are support grids made in a scratch-proof polymer material, with an efficient drip collection system that keeps the work surface clean. This protects the bottoms of your cups from picking up the remains of spills from prior extractions, so that your espresso service is spotless. The grids can easily be removed from the drip tray, and can be washed in the dishwasher. All Rancilio commercial espresso machines have the grid system feature.
AMB.07 - Advanced Boiler Management Feature
The Advanced Boiler Management feature is the electronic control of the boiler and water system within the espresso machine. Specifically designed software improves the performance of your espresso machine by switching on the heating element concurrently with the brewing of espresso, or the frothing or steaming of milk.
This allows your espresso machine to stabilize its temperature by anticipating usage. The Advanced Boiler Management System features a control that senses pressure fluctuations in the boiler, and that immediately compensates for those fluctuations by modulating the heater..
V-Flex Feature
Plug & Brew Feature
The Plug & Brew feature is a new Rancilio patented feature that makes your installation super easy. It allows your dosages and other the main programmable functions of your commercial espresso machine to be set to default values immediately on power up. Even espresso machines without the display feature will allow you to adjust your temperatures externally with the Plug & Brew feature, thanks to a new function that allows the boiler pressure to be adjusted using control buttons. The Plug & Brew comes standard on all Classe 6 E commercial espresso machines.
Easy Clean Feature
The Easy Clean feature allows you to clean your espresso machine at night with minimal intervention or supervision by your staff. Simply load the groups with espresso machine cleaner, and the Easy Clean feature will do the rest - cycling the heads to flush them correctly and leave them clean.
Gas Heating Feature
Some of the commercial espresso machines allow you to use a gas input as an option to heat your boilers. This will save on electrical power. The Classe 6 LEVA has lever operated brew groups, and comes standard with gas heating. This allows you to use the Classe 6 LEVA commercial machine without electricity.
Easy Fix Feature
The Easy Fix feature is an advanced diagnostic program that is stored internal to your espresso machine that can trace and pinpoint problems very easily. This allows a technician to diagnose the espresso machine very quickly and without opening it up. This will save on repair bills should your espresso machine ever have problems.
Pod Adapters
Some of the espresso machines come with a pod adapter option, which allows you to use espresso pods in your portafilters for less mess and more consistent extractions.
